How The Pandemic Affected Tourist Accommodation Revenue

The Hospitality industry in South Africa was dealt a tremendous blow due to the global pandemic and subsequent lockdown restrictions. Although the Global Industry is steadily recovering, the local industry has been recovering at a comparatively slower rate due to the slow easing of travel restrictions. The graph today shows that tourist accommodation income was only approximately 41% of its pre-pandemic levels. We conservatively expect 2022 revenue to be approximately 44% of its pre-pandemic levels. We will be monitoring the situation closely.
